We had a very special day celebrating our Grand Opening with our school community. We started the day with a Gruffalo Breakfast with our parents and the Gruffalo even came along to celebrate with us! Then we had lots of different activities linked to the vision of our school. On the school playground we had farm animals and a petting farm, in our Design and Technology room we had a chef cooking with vegetables from Smith’s Farmshop and in the Reception Outdoor classroom we had Acorn Forest School delivering an outdoor learning workshop for our children. Thank you to all of those involved and our parents for supporting the opening of our new school. We had an incredible day!
We have had an amazing first week at Buckton Fields Primary School and it has been so lovely to finally welcome our children into school in their lovely school uniforms. Our Reception children have been fantastic; exploring their new environment, making friends and getting to know our new team. I hope your child has loved their first couple of days at school, we cannot wait to continue to get to know them and watch them flourish.
Car Parking
I am working with Martin Grant and our building contractors to ensure the path leading up to school is completed as soon as possible and safe for our families. Please can I request that for safety reasons, you do not use the school carpark unless you are a blue badge holder and that you enter the site through the pedestrian gate. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter. Please can I also ask that dogs do not enter the school site – thank you.
Home Learning Books and Tapestry
Your child will have a blue ‘home learning book’ in their bookbag and your log in details for Tapestry will be stuck in the front of this book. Please log into Tapestry when you receive this to ensure you can access this portal. You can download the app on a smart phone or use the Tapestry website. We will be sharing your child’s learning on this app and you will be able to comment and upload photos from home. Please ensure that your child brings this blue book with them to school everyday, there is a space for you to write messages to school and we will use this book as a form of communication and record when we hear your child read. Once we have settled our children into phonics groups, your child will come home with a reading book.
Celebration Assemblies
Every Friday we will be having a Celebration Assembly to celebrate the children’s hard work and achievements both in and outside of school. If your child has anything they wish to share in our special assemblies, please bring it in on a Friday in your child’s book bag. For example, swimming certificates, medals, anything they have achieved outside of school, we would love to celebrate with your child in our assemblies. During this assembly, we also celebrate birthdays – a huge happy birthday to Caelan and Miss Gibson who are both celebrating their birthdays this weekend.
This terms Value…
Our value for this half term is Respect and Tolerance. We will be encouraging and praising the children for showing our value in school and please can you also praise your child for showing this value at home too. If your child has done anything in particular to show our school value, please feel free to email it in to us, we would love to hear about it.
The School Office
If you wish to call the school office, Lisa Deane (our office manager) manages our phones from 8:30am – 3:30pm. Outside of these hours, you will be able to leave a voicemail and we will return your call as soon as possible. If you ever need to speak to a member of staff urgently, please email us. Whilst we are setting up all of our systems, we may be sending emails through Arbor more often than usual to keep you updated. Please bear with us whilst we get everything in place and if you have any questions, please email lisa.deane@buckton.school or call the office.
The Tallest Sunflower!
Well done to Pearl for growing this enormous sunflower – I have never seen a sunflower this tall! I am looking forward to having your help with our allotment next spring.
If the phone rings…
As we are a brand new school, I would like to call all our parents over the next couple of weeks to see how your child is settling in and give you a chance to
provide any feedback to us. I appreciate that many of you will be working and I do not want to disturb you, so if you are unavailable to answer, please do
not worry and I will leave you a message. You can then call me back if you wish on our school telephone number: 01604 931030.
Covid Procedure
I wanted to update you on the precautions we are taking in school to keep everyone safe regarding Covid-19. We have hand sanitiser and soap in every classroom and encourage our children and staff to wash their hands regularly throughout the day, as well as a thorough cleaning schedule. Staff are lateral flow testing twice a week and we are doing all we can to keep our school community safe. We have an outbreak management plan in place, which you can find on the school website: COVID-19 (bucktonschool.org.uk). Although we are running as normal, public health teams may ask us to put in measures if we have an outbreak (which is classed as 5 or more pupils or staff who are in close contact testing positive within a 10 day period). Please could we ask that you remain aware of Covid symptoms, and if you are worried that your child might have the virus, you get them tested, so we can reduce any spread and avoid going into ‘outbreak’ status if possible. Please do not send your child into school until you have received the results of their test.
As a school, we follow the latest government guidance. According to the NHS website, the main symptoms of Corona Virus are:
• a high temperature
• a new, continuous cough
• a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Thank you for your support with this.
Dates for your diary:
I have been so impressed with all the photos of our future reception children showing our school value of Responsibility. It is lovely to see you decorating plant pots, watering and looking after your sunflower seeds and picking up litter in your local area. Here are some photos of our responsible and caring children, we are already so proud of you!
It was so lovely to meet some of our families and Reception Class for September 2021 during my book deliveries! I really enjoyed delivering a book to each child and it was great to see that the children are just as excited about the school opening as I am. I hope your child enjoyed the story of Rainbow Fish, I cannot wait to fill our reading reef library with books and for our children to enjoy stories as a regular feature of their school day. I am enjoying seeing photos of your
child showing responsibility by helping their sunflower to grow, sunflowers should have all arrived the last week so please let us know if you have not received any.
All 72 modules, which make up our school, are now on site at Buckton Fields Primary School! The exterior work, including brickwork and cladding, is starting next week. We love watching our school building progress and can not wait to transform our brand new school into a fun, inspirational and exciting learning environment!
Some exciting updates from our builders – who have started working on the land for our school!

As the construction work continues on site, I wanted to share with you more exciting plans for our first ever cohort of Reception children in September. In line with the vision of sustainability and being a school with a commitment to protecting our local environment, we will be working closely with the local Farm Shop to launch Buckton Fields’ Farmers.
We will be having an allotment, gardening club, visits from farmers and lots of trips to the farm shop! We will be using our brand new Design and Technology room to learn how to cook healthy, delicious food. We cannot wait to work closely with the local community and get growing some fresh vegetables with our children.
Our builders are hard at work making space for the new school, lots of diggers are now on site.
